I just needed some blank personal checks. So I go to a BoA branch to ask for a few blank checks so that I can give a deposit to my new landlord. I find out that BoA cannot print customers checks, but they can give me a cashier’s check which I would have to pay $10 for, or a money order which I would have to pay $5 for, or I could go online and order checks for $25 that will take 2 weeks to get to me. This is ridiculous, everyone else I know told me that they can go to their bank and get a few blank checks printed when they are out of checks.

So I’m not sure that I can state how incredibly annoyed I am with Bank of America right now, but I’m going to try. In January, I noticed two charges on my BoFA credit card for a Wal-Mart in Wisconsin. I immediately called BoFA and disputed the charges. I asked if they were going to issue us a new card number, and they said no. About 3 weeks went by, and I called to check on the status of my fraud claim, and they said "oh, it looks like it was never submitted. We’ll do that now." About 6 weeks after that, I got a letter stating that they determined the charges were legitimate because there was a receipt with a signature. Never mind that it was clearly not my signature or Kelvin’s signature. They were satisfied. Never mind that the same card was legitimately used by us on the same day both before AND after the charge in a state several hundred miles away. They were satisfied. I fought them on it, and in response I got a letter thanking me for agreeing that the charges were valid. I went postal and Kelvin actually went to a BoFA branch because I would have literally killed someone if I had gone. He got them to agree that the charges were CLEARLY not from us, and they initiated ANOTHER fraud complaint. They sent me paperwork where I had to verify that they charges were fraud (grrr), and then they issued us new cards. That was about 3 weeks ago. Today, I got a notice from my insurance carrier that I could no longer use auto-pay because I attempted to pay with an illegitimate card. Excessive, I thought, and when I called, they verified that they were suspending my auto-pay privileges because of the fake card I tried to use. So then I went online to BoFA to see what else was going to bounce because it was set up on auto-pay, and discovered that my credit card was no longer showing up on my online account. So I called BoFA. This is the best part....they said that it wasn’t showing up because the new cards that "someone" issued "somehow" had an invalid card number, so the new cards were "bad." This, in turn, is apparently why my insurance carrier is punishing me, and why I can’t see my account onilne. Wait, it gets better. I have a balance due on the card, but I can’t see it because I’m enrolled in electronic billing, and my "bad" card can’t be seen electronically. I asked her if my BoFA would still auto pay the credit card balance, and she couldn’t tell me that. I asked her to send me a paper version, and her response was that she could, but it wouldn’t get to me before the payment was due. When I *kindly* explained to her that there was no f#$!ing way I was giving them money for a statement that they wouldn’t let me see, she told me that if I wait a few day, I could re-enter the bad card information I currently have and probably see my account balance. Probably. So to summarize, after five months of fighting the fraudulent charge, "someone" at BoFA issued us a new card, with an invalid card number, that I can’t access online, and that they refuse to send me a statement for, and that may or may not be paid by my BoFA auto bill-pay, but that I should pay without seeing the bill for based on my faith that it is all accurate. I give up. Bank of America can go f*#k itself. I’m finding a new bank.
